The Duchess of Diplomacy

Jess Cartner-Morley of  The Guardian has pointed out that The Duchess of Cambridge has made some diplomatic fashion choices during her trip to Canada with her husband Prince William. For example, twice, the Princess has worn dresses designed by Erdem Moralioglu, a Canadian-born London designer, definitely an appropriate choice. I'd even go a step further and say that the Kate's wardrobe is wrought with symbolism.

On Canada Day, she wore her cream Reiss "Nannette" dress, the same one she was pictured wearing in her formal engagement portraits by Mario Testino. Her red maple-leaf fascinator was reminiscent of a hat worn by The Princess of Wales when she and Prince Charles toured Canada in 1983. A final touch was the Queen's Maple Leaf brooch which is on loan to the Duchess. Kate Moss Weds in Galliano

Kate Moss wore a dress designed by long-time friend John Galliano on Friday for her wedding to Jamie Hince. The groom wore a suit by Yves Saint Laurent. The ceremony took place at St. Peter’s Church in Southrop, England, followed by a reception to be held at Moss’ estate in the Cotswolds. According to industry sources, the wedding dress that Galliano designed for Moss was inspired by Zelda Fitzgerald, whose engagement ring she is wearing. He did the final fitting for the dress earlier this week in Europe, while in care. “Kate is his biggest muse and he was never, ever going to let his friend down,” said one source. “He did Kate’s 21st birthday dress, her 30th birthday dress, and Galliano’s show was the first she ever walked for.
